Alerts

Told Before It Becomes a Problem.

Thresholds on learner risk, course readiness and any KPI the dashboards already compute. Evaluated on the platform scheduler, so an alert fires whether or not anyone has the page open. Works with LearnNoow and Moodle.

What a rule can watch

Learner risk

The same score the at-risk screen ranks on

Learners at risk computes a composite risk score and ranks on it. An alert rule watches that score crossing a line you set, so the list is read because something moved rather than because somebody remembered to look.

Course readiness

A course that is not ready, before it runs

Course readiness scores each course against its criteria. A rule on that score is the difference between finding out in week one and finding out in week six.

Any KPI

The headline figures the dashboards already compute

Rules are written against a metric catalogue the backend publishes, so metric names, units and trigger labels stay in step with the product instead of drifting from it.

How alerting works

A feed for everyone, a rules manager for admins.

Anyone holding view.alerts sees what has fired. Changing what fires needs manage.alerts, so a threshold cannot be quietly moved by the person it inconveniences.

  • The feed

    Severity, observed value, and when

Each triggered alert shows info, warning or critical styling, the observed value against the threshold, and how long ago it fired. Mark one read, or mark all.

  • The rules manager

    Name, trigger, condition, severity, state

A table of rules with an enabled toggle, the last evaluation time and whether the rule is currently in breach, plus inline create and edit forms driven by the metric catalogue.

  • Run it now

    Evaluate on demand

A Run evaluation now button sweeps every rule immediately and reports how many alerts it created, so a new rule can be tested rather than waited on.

  • On a schedule

    Without anyone opening the page

Rules are evaluated on the platform scheduler, and every LMS connection has its health re-checked on the same schedule.

  • The bell

Unread alerts, wherever you are in the product

A notification bell in the app shell carries the unread count.

  • Not a mail merge

    Live the moment it matters

An alert fires the moment a threshold is crossed and lands in the feed with a bell in the app, so the person who needs to act sees it the same day, not at the end of a reporting cycle.

Questions

Questions about alerts including what they are not.

What can a LearnBoard alert watch?

Learner risk, course readiness and KPI thresholds. Rules are defined against a metric catalogue the backend publishes, so the metric names and units on the rule form are the product's own rather than free text.

Do alerts fire if nobody is looking?

Yes. Rules are evaluated on the platform scheduler, not when a page loads. The feed is what you read afterwards.

Who can change a rule?

Only someone holding manage.alerts. Everyone with view.alerts sees the triggered feed but cannot alter what triggers it.

Which plans include alerts?

Pro, Business, Scale and Enterprise. Not Free. Everything else about reading a dashboard is on Free.

How do alerts reach us?

Every alert lands in the in-product feed with a notification bell in the app shell the moment a rule fires, so the right person sees it as soon as the numbers move rather than waiting for a report to arrive.

Can we test a rule before trusting it?

Yes. Run evaluation now sweeps every rule on demand and tells you how many alerts it created, so a threshold can be tuned in a minute rather than over a week.

Which platforms does LearnBoard support?

LearnNoow and Moodle. Connect either one read-only and the same dashboards, charts, alerts and AI answers run on it. Nothing is installed on LearnNoow; Moodle has two free companion plugins.
