Charts you can read
Every chart carries the figures it draws as a table, named after the card. It is hidden on screen but read by screen readers, and long series are cut to the first 200 rows with a note saying so.
LearnBoard can be used without a mouse, and with a screen reader. This page lists the keys that work on each part of the product, and what LearnBoard does for people who cannot see a chart or who prefer less motion. It is for everyone, whatever their role.
At a glance
| Where | Keys |
|---|---|
| Any screen | Tab to move forward, Shift + Tab to move back. The first Tab reaches Skip to main content; press Enter to jump past the menus. |
| Search screens and reports | Type two or more letters, Down and Up to move through the results, Enter to open one, Escape to close the list. |
| Account menu, Groups filter, Alerts bell | Enter or Space to open, Escape to close. |
| Product tour | Right and Left arrows to move between stops. |
The highlighted search result is announced as you move, so a screen reader user always knows which screen Enter will open.
| Button | Keys |
|---|---|
| Info (the i) | Tab to it to show the explanation. Enter or Space keeps it open. Escape closes it. |
| Ask AI, Pin, Download CSV | Tab to the button and press Enter. Ask AI and Pin are named for the card they belong to, for example “Ask AI about Top 10 courses by enrolment”. |
The AI assistant panel, the Pin to dashboard window, the Share dashboard window and the phone menu all behave the same way:
In the AI assistant, Enter sends your question and Shift + Enter starts a new line.
On a dashboard you own, press Edit layout, then Tab until a card is focused.
| Keys | What happens |
|---|---|
| Arrow keys | Move the card one column or one row. |
| Shift + arrow keys | Make the card wider, narrower, taller or shorter. |
Every move is announced, including when a card is already at an edge or at its smallest size. The arrow keys only move the card when the card itself has focus, so using a list or table inside a card does not move it. See Custom dashboards.
Charts you can read
Every chart carries the figures it draws as a table, named after the card. It is hidden on screen but read by screen readers, and long series are cut to the first 200 rows with a note saying so.
Named charts
Each chart is named from its card’s title, so it is announced as more than an unnamed graphic.
Messages announced
Saved, failed and refreshing messages are announced when they appear, as are the password rules as each one is met.
Clear button names
Icon-only buttons have spoken names, such as “Download this screen as a PDF” and “Open AI assistant”.
