Troubleshooting
When a LearnBoard block or page cannot show charts, it says why in a short notice. This page lists every notice, what causes it and what to do. It is for the Moodle administrator and for whoever set up the block.
At a glance
Section titled “At a glance”- Most notices in a block are shown only to people editing the page. Everyone else sees nothing, so a broken block never confuses learners.
- Could not connect to LearnBoard is the most common: Moodle could not get a pass from LearnBoard.
- You do not have permission to perform this action on a chart is by design for learners. See Giving learners access.
Notices in a block or on the LearnBoard page
Section titled “Notices in a block or on the LearnBoard page”The LearnBoard connection is not set up yet
Section titled “The LearnBoard connection is not set up yet”The LearnBoard connection is not set up yet. A site administrator connects it under Site administration → Plugins → Blocks → Connect to LearnBoard.
Why: the plugin has no LearnBoard address, workspace or embed key. Fix: paste a connection code. See Connect to LearnBoard. The notice links straight to the page.
This block has no chart selected yet
Section titled “This block has no chart selected yet”This block has no chart selected yet. Turn editing on and choose a chart in the block settings.
Why: a custom block has no charts, and the viewer cannot edit it. Fix: turn Edit mode on and click Add charts. See The chart picker.
This block is set to Linked but no dashboard is chosen
Section titled “This block is set to Linked but no dashboard is chosen”This block is set to “Linked” but no LearnBoard dashboard is chosen yet. Turn editing on and pick one in the block settings.

Why: Dashboard source is Linked to a LearnBoard dashboard, but LearnBoard dashboard is empty. Only people editing the page see this. Fix: pick a dashboard in the block settings. If the list is empty, see “No shared dashboards found” below.
My team and My learning need per-user sign-in
Section titled “My team and My learning need per-user sign-in”My team and My learning show each person their own data, so they need per-user sign-in. Turn it on in Site administration, Plugins, Blocks, LearnBoard.

Why: the block, or a rule, shows My team or My learning, and Enable per-user sign-in (SSO) is off. Only people editing the page see this. Fix: turn on Enable per-user sign-in (SSO) on the LearnBoard settings page. See Per-user sign-in.
LearnBoard analytics are not available for your account here
Section titled “LearnBoard analytics are not available for your account here”LearnBoard analytics are not available for your account here. Ask a site administrator if you need access.

Why: per-user sign-in is off, and the viewer does not hold block/learnboard:view at site level. In a block only people editing the page see this; on the LearnBoard page everyone does.
Fix: turn per-user sign-in on, so everyone sees LearnBoard as themselves. Or, to keep it off, give the person a role with block/learnboard:view at site level. See Capabilities and permissions.
Could not connect to LearnBoard
Section titled “Could not connect to LearnBoard”Could not connect to LearnBoard. Check the API base URL, embed key and tenant slug in the LearnBoard integration settings.

Why: your Moodle server asked LearnBoard for a pass and did not get one. Common causes:
- The LearnBoard API base URL is wrong, or not
https://. - The embed key no longer matches, for example because someone made a new connection code in LearnBoard.
- Moodle’s own HTTP security blocks the address. This happens when LearnBoard is on a private network or the same server: Moodle refuses requests to private and local addresses by default.
- A firewall or proxy stops your server reaching LearnBoard.
- LearnBoard was unreachable at that moment.
Fix: paste the newest connection code from LearnBoard, Admin, Data sources. If LearnBoard is on a private network, allow its address under Site administration > Security > HTTP security. For a LearnBoard with a self-signed certificate, see Allow self-signed SSL in Plugin settings.
The LearnBoard charts could not be loaded
Section titled “The LearnBoard charts could not be loaded”The LearnBoard charts could not be loaded: reason
Why: the page got a pass, but the browser could not load the chart script from LearnBoard. The reason is usually “Failed to load the LearnBoard SDK”. Fix: check that the viewer’s browser can reach your LearnBoard address, that no content blocker or network filter stops it, and that the LearnBoard API base URL is reachable from outside your server.
No LearnBoard dashboards are shared with this site yet
Section titled “No LearnBoard dashboards are shared with this site yet”No LearnBoard dashboards are shared with this site yet. In LearnBoard, open a dashboard, click Share, and either add “Moodle Embed (read-only)” under Share with people or publish it to everyone in the workspace. Then reload this page.

Why: Moodle can see no dashboard. Every workspace starts with an LMS Overview that Moodle always sees, so this usually means it was deleted, or Moodle could not get the list from LearnBoard. Fix: share a dashboard with Moodle in LearnBoard. If you have, check for “Could not connect to LearnBoard” above. See Linked dashboards.
Notices in the block settings
Section titled “Notices in the block settings”No shared dashboards found
Section titled “No shared dashboards found”No shared dashboards found. In LearnBoard, open the dashboard, click Share, and either publish it to everyone in the workspace or add “Moodle Embed (read-only)” under Share with people. Then reopen these settings.
Why and fix: as “No LearnBoard dashboards are shared with this site yet” above. Reopen the settings after sharing.

Other questions
Section titled “Other questions”The LearnBoard item is not in the main menu. It needs Moodle 4.3 or later, Show LearnBoard in the main menu on, a connected site, and a person allowed to see LearnBoard at site level. Themes that draw their own menu do not show it: add the link in the theme’s settings. See The full-page view and main-menu link.
A teacher sees no charts. Per-user sign-in is probably off. Turn it on, and teachers see their own groups.
Figures look old. LearnBoard keeps figures for a while. Click Refresh at the top of the block or page.
