Upload a database copy
When LearnBoard cannot reach your Moodle at all, you can upload an SQL export of the Moodle database instead. LearnBoard loads it into a private database of its own, and every dashboard and the AI assistant read it exactly as they would a live source. It is a snapshot: it does not change after it is loaded.
At a glance
- Who can do this: the Admin role, with Manage tenant data sources (
manage.data-sources). - Accepted files:
.sqlor.txt, up to 2 GB. - Useful for an audit, a snapshot of last year, or a trial before live access is arranged.
- Deleting the source deletes the loaded database and the uploaded file too.
Upload the file
Section titled “Upload the file”-
Export your Moodle database to an SQL file. Whoever runs your Moodle database can do this.
-
In LearnBoard, open Admin console, Data sources, and choose the SQL dump tab.
-
Fill in the form.
Field What to enter Display name Your own name for this copy, for example the organisation and the month it was taken. Table prefix The prefix in front of every Moodle table name. mdl_is filled in.SQL dump file The .sqlor.txtexport, up to 2 GB. -
Press Upload + start import. LearnBoard says “Upload accepted. The import job is running, refresh in a moment to see import status.”
-
Refresh Data sources after a while. Under Configured sources, the row says Awaiting import until loading finishes, then shows the name of the private database it was loaded into.
-
Press Test, then Activate to make this copy the one your dashboards read.
What is allowed in the file?
Section titled “What is allowed in the file?”An SQL export creates tables and fills them with rows, and that is all LearnBoard runs from it. Statements a database restore legitimately contains, such as creating tables, indexes and views and inserting rows, are accepted. Anything else, including anything that would grant privileges, read or write a file, or reach another database, is refused rather than run.
Copy or live connection?
Section titled “Copy or live connection?”A copy never updates. For figures that stay current, connect live with the Moodle plugin or a database account. You can keep both: a workspace can hold a live source and a copy, and you switch between them with Activate.
